Follow top tech experts on Google+

By now, you should be using Google+ – the new social network that became available to the public last month.  In many respects, Google+ has some of the same functions as Facebook (post messages, share photos and videos, chat, etc.), but the big difference with Google+ is that you can choose who you want to share these things with by creating “Circles.”

Circles allows you to choose only those contacts you want to include and communicate with separate from all other circles (unlike Facebook, where you communicate with all contacts). You can have a family Circle, a friends Circle, and a professional/work Circle. And like Twitter, Google+ has a “Following” Circle that enables you to follow people who aren’t friends or acquaintances, but are of interest to you (i.e. celebrities, industry experts, authors, etc).

Once you have established a Google+ account and are logged in, check out the Google+ recommended user list of “interesting and famous people” including a subcategory for technology.

If you want to keep up with what some of today’s leading techies are talking about, this list is a good place to start building your Following Circle.  In addition, Jason Hiner, the Editor in Chief of TechRepublic provides his list of top tech experts you should also follow.  Check out his list by clicking here.

Google+ is yet one more social network that will assist you in building your network of IT contacts and resources.  Use it to compliment your online presence, communicate with only those Circles you choose to, and keep informed with the latest in technology by following industry leaders.
